Fresh from the inspiration of Barack Obama’s inauguration, actor Val Kilmer has been reading the is hoping to run for the office of governor of New Mexico.
“I’m just looking for ways to be contributive,” Kilmer said in an interview at a local restaurant. “And if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I’ll run.”

New Mexico is due for a new governor in 2010, when Democrat Bill Richardson’s second term ends.
Val Kilmer grew up in Los Angeles but he has lived in New Mexico for over twenty years.
