Extreme Ironing - Underwater Ironing Champions
Meet the underwater ironing champions of the world. They’re British.
Today these brave man and women can claim that they have defeated Australia, New Zealend, South Africa and much of Europe to the title as they are now world record holders. The team managed to get 86 divers ironing under water beating Australia’s 72.
To surpass the Australian record the divers had to be recorded using an ironing board at least a meter long and be seen ironing an item at least the size of a tea towel.
One of the divers said “cold is the hardest bit.” and suggested if they could do the next competition somewhere like Tahiti.
Extreme ironing started in 2002 when the first and the only world championship took place in Munich. Nowadays divers practice their ironing in whole range of harsh conditions all over the world but despite is apparent global appeal it is unlikely to me made an Olympic event.
